I have degrees from the University of Michigan (BA) and the University of Minnesota (MBA and Ph.D.).
I am a Full Professor at Michigan State University where I have taught and conducted research for 16 years. I have also taught at the University of Minnesota and have served as a Visiting Scholar at Indian School of Business and as Senior Fellow at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore.
I have taught in the Undergraduate Program, MBA Program, and PhD program, including management, organizational behavior, international organizational behavior, international strategies, power and empowerment, managing the workforce, psychology and management, and seminars in organizational behavior.
Prior to becoming an academic, I held a variety of managerial positions (including Director of World-Wide Human Resources; Director of Compensation, Benefits, and International Personnel; and various other Human Resource positions) in for-profit manufacturing firms and not-for-profit service organizations. I also was involved in the start-up and early development of several entrepreneurial ventures in service businesses which I sold to finance my graduate education.
